Founder: Peter (Hoa) Stone

Peter was orphaned as a child during the Vietnam War. He contracted polio as a young child, and in later life has been affected by post-polio syndrome. This has resulted in him needing to be in a wheel chair at all times.  After a traumatic and dramatic life growing up in Australia, he returned to his homeland as a humanitarian worker.  He has trained a team of local people with disability to manage and run the project for him to this day.

With his background, he has a real understanding and a heart for disadvantaged children and he saw that while many people care for orphans, there was limited planning for their ongoing care and support.

Purpose

Our dream is to help disadvantaged children with physical disability have a brighter future. Through the Company of Grace a variety of life enhancing services will be provided in local Vietnamese communities.

Key services include: physical rehabilitation, early/elementary education, and vocational training. We aim to help disadvantaged children develop the capacity to live independent and fulfilled lives with a positive future.

Target: By 2015 our aim is to be

  1. 100% localised.

  2. 100% self-sustainable.

  3. 100% managed by staff with disability.
